Lined up with Khafre, south-east corner, 0.62 km away. Look towards 269° from north. It works across an area around this point, not only from the exact spot.

Good to know

The Sphinx Temple is closed and the plateau shuts around 17:00: you watch from outside, from the Sound and Light stands or the terraces of Nazlet el-Samman.

The alignment works from one precise line: a few metres change where the sun sets against the Sphinx. From the public terraces the effect is similar but not identical to the archaeologists’ one.
