Open Settings → Terrain and download the pack for where you are going. Each pack covers a country (the largest are split into regions) plus the terrain beyond its borders that shapes its horizon. Packs range from a few megabytes to several hundred, so it’s best to use Wi-Fi. Once on your phone, a pack works offline for good.

Without a pack, Duskbox treats the horizon as flat, and tells you so on screen. For maps, turn on Keep the map offline on a moment; Settings → Offline maps lists what is stored and lets you delete old areas.

Open Settings and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. It’s a one-time purchase: you’re never charged again, and on a new iPhone you get it back the same way.

The score needs cloud forecasts, layer by layer, along 300 km of the sun’s path. Beyond about 72 hours they aren’t reliable enough to say anything useful, and Duskbox would rather not guess. The aurora (Kp) forecast also stops at about three days. Further out you still get all the astronomy: times, positions, moon phase and the real horizon. Forecasts need a connection; everything else works offline.

No. Tides are predicted on the device from tide-station data, to help you plan a photo: a rock pool at low water, a reflection at high tide. They are not for navigation or for your safety at sea or on the shore. Always check official tide tables and local conditions.

No account, no analytics, no tracking. Your moments, photos and notes stay on your phone. The app only contacts weather and map services to get data for the place you are planning — the Privacy Policy lists each one and what it receives.

Duskbox speaks English, Italian, Spanish, French and German. It follows your iPhone’s language; you can pick another one in Settings → Language.
